Frequently Asked Questions

Q - What is Legendary Magazine ™?

A - Legendary Magazine™ is for pen and paper role players and will feature content compatible with 3e/3.5e mechanics; it also has pure flavor elements in a section that we call 'Tasty Game'. (Get it, get it!? Flavor.) We're hoping to have mostly reader driven content after the first few issues; this includes mechanics (like classes, feats, spells, etc) and even art. Right now, we're searching high and low for fantasy art! Everything submitted remains the property of the contributor.

Sections that we're planning on including regularly: Character Works (Classes, Feats, Spells, variants, backgrounds, flavor, etc), Advice from the Masses (questions from readers, advice from readers), Tasty Game (Campaign/adventure flavor concepts, sans mechanics), "This One Time" (funny game moments), Art/Comic(?), Perilous Venture (Adventures), and Game Master's Quandry.

Q - Do you take reader submissions for classes, feats, and other stuff?

A - Yes! We want submissions from our readers! If you want to submit something, please check out our Contact info.

Q - Do you take art submissions?

A - Double yes! We want submissions from our readers! If you want to submit something, please check out our Contact info.

Q - Does Legendary Magazine™ own everything I submit?

A - No. All contributers retain ownership of everything they submit. By submitting anything, you are authorizing Legendary Magazine™ to publish that material at their discretion. Once you've submitted something, we can publish it as many times as we want, in any issue we want, in any format we want.

Q - I submitted something and got a confirmation that you had received it. Why haven't I seen it in the magazine yet?

A - Legendary Magazine™ follows a general format and sometimes we have too much of certain content (flavor, classes, etc) to feature everything in the same month that we get it; sometimes submitted content would go better with an upcoming theme so we will hold off until a more appropriate issue is in production. Finally, submission does not guarantee publication. Content may be unsuitable for publication for legal or other reasons.

Q - Will Legendary Magazine™ pay me for my submission?

A - No. All submissions are voluntary and pro bono. Not because we're jerks but because we're poor.

Q - Will Legendary Magazine™ pay me for my art?

A - No. All submissions are voluntary and pro bono. Not because we're jerks but because we're poor.

Q - I emailed you 5 minutes ago and never got a response. Why do you hate me?

A - We don't hate you. You should definitely wait at least 2 days before asking us why we haven't responded.

Q - I emailed you at least 2 days ago and never got a response. Why do you hate me?

A - We don't hate you. Try emailing us again; make sure to let us know that this is your second attempt.

Q - I got an form email right after I submitted saying, "Thank you for your submission." What's that all about?

A - We send you a form confirmation to let you know that a live person has read your submission and it's in our inbox. This is a courtesy to you. It is in no way a guarantee of publication or obligation to compensation.

Q - I'd really like to contribute, but only if you pay me.

A - You'll have to look elsewhere, then. We can't afford to pay you.

Q - I don't game or read your magazine but would still like to submit some art; is that ok?

A - Of course!

Q - Is your publication legal?

A - Yes. We only publish original material that is compliant with the Open Game License.

Q - Are you associated with d20 System®, Dungeons & Dragons®, or Wizards of the Coast®?

A - No. We are completely independent and in no way make any claim or challenge to their intellectual properties.

Q - If you aren't associated with d20 System®, how come your mechanics use d20s?

A - Because the d20 mechanics aren't proprietary since the Open Game License was released, only Product Identity (proper names, specific people/places/items, some mechanics) are proprietary, and we take great pains not to publish content that would get us in trouble.

Q - What are your subscription prices?

A - Our delivery system for our different mediums (b&w hardcopy, PDF, and eBook) are in flux right now so there is no definitive answer yet. We can promise that our PDFs and eBooks will be under $3 an issue. People who purchase hardcopies will receive a special code making them eligible to download the PDF of that issue.

Q - How do I subscribe?

A - Right now, you can't subscribe…but we're working on it.
